Phil Schuman

Mr. Philip Schuman is the Leader of the Media & Entertainment practice and specializes in advising companies in the communications, media, entertainment, technology and business services sectors. He has over 25 years of experience in providing new business entry strategy and implementation, service line and territorial expansion, revenue data analytics to merger and acquisition advisory and due diligence on behalf of corporate and private capital investors.

In addition to his work in media and entertainment, Mr. Schuman works closely with other FTI Consulting subject matter experts to bring their expertise in performance improvement, supply chain and logistics and interim management to companies in the media and entertainment industry.

Mr. Schuman has worked with a variety of businesses, including content creators and distributors, programming services and transmission platforms and technology providers to these sectors. Examples of the companies Mr. Schuman has worked with include The Walt Disney Company, 21st Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Viacom, AT&T, DirecTV, Verizon, Liberty Global, inDemand, BSkyB, Sky Italia, Canal+, Kabel Deutschland, British Telecom, Virgin Media, Deutsche Telekom, RTL, Studio 71 and ProSieben/Sat1.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Schuman co-founded HighView Media Group (“HVM”) in 2002. HVM owns and operates five television channels and six radio stations that predominately serve German-speaking European consumers. HVM used to also operate HighView Media Consulting, a global media advisory and management firm that specialized in serving companies in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors. HighView Media Consulting was acquired by FTI Consulting in 2014.

Prior to forming HVM, Mr. Schuman served in several capacities at Universal Studios, culminating in him serving as Co-President of Television Distribution. In that role, Mr. Schuman oversaw Universal Studios Television Distribution’s worldwide licensing activities.

Prior to Universal Studios, Mr. Schuman worked for General Electric as Senior Transaction Counsel for its plastics division. He began his career at Shearman & Sterling, where he served as an Associate for seven years.

Mr. Schuman holds a B.A. in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also holds a J.D. from the Emory University School of Law, with the distinction of Order of the Coif.
