Weekend Pack Policy: Enhance your work-life balance and make your weekend special
My name is Nunzio Quaranta, and I am a Senior Business Analyst at FTI Delta, based in the Dubai office. After completing my graduate studies and gaining initial work experience across Europe, I had the opportunity to join the company and embrace an exciting professional challenge in the strategy consulting industry.
Since I moved to the Middle East and joined the FTI Delta’s team, I have had the chance to truly appreciate the importance of work-life balance in the life of every consultant. Balancing work commitments, client meetings in other countries, and tight deadlines can significantly impact your personal life and, as a consequence, having strong support from your company is essential. FTI Delta is deeply committed to supporting the well-being of its staff across all locations and constantly introduces new policies designed to help consultants achieve a balanced work-life dynamic to increase overall satisfaction and ensure high professional performance.
A relevant initiative introduced by FTI Delta is the Weekend Pack Policy, designed specifically for the staff who are assigned to projects outside their office base location and travel weekly. The primary purpose of the Weekend Pack Policy is to offer consultants the opportunity to spend their weekends at or around their project locations instead of returning to their home offices with the rest of the team. This approach not only enhances our personal experience but also saves the time associated with the weekly travel to our office location.
Having grown up in Italy and spent the last three years working between the UK and France, I personally know how challenging is to maintain a balance between professional and personal life. With most of my friends and family spread across different countries, homesickness can sometimes be overwhelming. Although Dubai is a vibrant city offering multiple fascinating activities that make every weekend unique, sometimes I feel the need to return to Europe to reconnect with my Italian roots.
The Weekend Pack Policy has been useful in helping me deal with these feelings, allowing me to stay connected with people I care about without compromising on my professional growth. For example, last year while I was staffed on a project in another GCC country, I traveled back to South Italy and London and was able to spend some quality time with my loved ones on the weekend. As most of you know, maintaining long-distance relationships can be challenging, but this policy makes them much more manageable.
Moreover, this policy has allowed me to explore new countries close to the United Arab Emirates that I might not have otherwise visited. Instead of coming back home to Dubai, I decided to have a few city breaks in Qatar and Turkey, two countries I admire for their rich cultural heritage, stunning natural features and diverse range of activities that cater to my interests.
The Weekend Pack Policy exemplifies FTI Delta's dedication to enhancing the work-life balance of its staff while maintaining project efficiency and high performance. My experience is clear evidence that it has helped alleviate homesickness and enrich my personal life.
